KHONSA, 3 Oct: Borduria-Bogapani MLA Wanglin Lowangdong recently visited the general hospitalhere in Tirap district, distributed fruits and energy drinks to seven indoor patients, and interacted with Medical Superintendent (i/c) Dr Montu Lowang.
He took note of the shortage of specialist doctors, including surgeons and medical officers, in the district and assured that he would urge the health minister to ensure early posting of adequate medical staff.
He urged the patients to follow the advice of their attending physicians and take medicines on time for speedy recovery.
The MLA also visited the sub-jail, where he handed over rice, eggs, and lentils to the officer in-charge.
The jail authorities highlighted the urgent need to strengthen the boundary wall, and to install additional CCTV cameras for enhanced safety and monitoring.
Later, at the New Light Foundation Rehabilitation Centre in Tupi, Lowangdong handed over rice and lentils to the inmates through the centre in-charge Wanglee Rangyang.
Rangyang informed that the centre has successfully rehabilitated 172 individuals to date, with 21 inmates currently undergoing de-addiction treatment. He appealed to the state government for infrastructural support, including the construction of a protective wall and additional buildings to accommodate the growing number of inmates from across Arunachal Pradesh.
On the occasion, a plantation drive under the initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ was carried out by Lowangdong around the rehabilitation centre. He was joined by the Wangchadong ZPM and community leaders.
Interacting with the inmates, Lowangdong encouraged them to complete their de-addiction course, and to remain steadfast in avoiding negative influences.
Lowangdong was accompanied by Khonsa ZPM Wanghong Panka, Khela-Bunting ZPM Tumwang Lowang, and Nocte Women Association chairperson Chasuam Wangchadong. (DIPRO)
