BALIJAN, 17 Nov: The Papum Pare Women and Child Development (WCD) Department organised a sensitisation-cum-awareness camp on the Domestic Violence Act, Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (POSH) Act, and the adoption regulations under Mission Vatsalaya here on Monday.

Attending the event, Balijan ADC Takar Rava commended the WCD Department for conducting such awareness camps, and urged the participants to utilise the opportunity to understand the legal provisions aimed at safeguarding women and children.

He requested the department to conduct similar awareness programmes for PRI members after the panchayat elections scheduled for December 2025.

District ICDS Cell Deputy Director Jaya Tabainformed the gathering that the WCD department has been consistently working to disseminate knowledge on women- and child-related laws through various initiatives. She stressed the importance of understanding and sharing this information for the collective wellbeing of society.

Resource persons included advocate Likha Asha Nyekam, who spoke on the Domestic Violence Act, 2005; CDPO Tana Chammaro, who deliberated on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (POSH) Act, 2013; and advocate Tarh Nagu, who delivered a presentation on adoption regulations.

The camp witnessed participation from over 50 attendees, including police personnel, government officers and officials, gaon burahs, and local residents. (DIPRO)
