BASAR, 17 Nov: The Leparada district administration conducted a ‘preparatory-cum-first level training programme’ for all administrative officers, heads of departments and designated sector officers (SOs) here on Monday, following the announcement of the panchayati raj election schedules by the State Election Commission.

SDO-cum-RO (PR) Dr MN Taloh briefed the SOs on their roles and responsibilities, based on the provisions of the Arunachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Act, 1997 (as amended) and Rules.

She urged the designated SOs to remain vigilant to ensure peaceful and smooth conduct of the election process. She also emphasised that SOs must ensure that polling teams reach their assigned stations a day ahead of poll day and return safely to the receiving centres after completion of poll.

Dr Taloh also highlighted the duties of presiding officers, polling officers and polling teams, besides pre-poll and post-poll protocols.

ADC-cum-RO (PR) Ejum Angu advised the officers to carry out their assigned duties and responsibilities with diligence.

He directed them to make advance visits to their assigned polling stations to assess the availability of basic voter facilities, and to promptly report any shortcomings to the DEO for necessary action. “Sector officers are responsible for ensuring fair and peaceful conduct of elections in close coordination with the DEO, RO and AROs,” he added.
