PAMPOLI, 17 Dec: A team from the NoteOnMap Society, led by Padma awardee professor Anil K. Gupta, along with students from IIM Ahmedabad, with support from the East Kameng Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and the tourism department, recently conducted a six-day documentation tour in East Kameng district.
During the tour, the team covered villages including Seppa, Mebuwa, Pachi, Pakke, Bameng, Waii. The team documented rich indigenous knowledge systems, traditional agricultural practices, ethnic attire, folk customs, natural dyeing techniques and traditional food systems of different tribal communities.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers, elders, women, youth and students, during which the team members highlighted the relevance of indigenous wisdom in sustainable agriculture and climate resilience.
The initiative underscored the importance of preserving traditional knowledge and showcased KVK East Kameng’s commendable role in supporting participatory, field-based cultural and agricultural documentation in the district.
