LIKABALI, 15 Jan: RWD Minister PD Sona chaired a review meeting on the PMGSY projects under the RWD’s Bam and Pasighat circles here in Lower Siang district on Thursday.

Sona told the executing agencies not to compromise with fraudulent and irresponsible contractors who do not ensure timely completion of projects, and directed the executive engineers of the RWD to function within the ambit of their delegated powers and “avoid passing verbal instructions at whims and fancies to contractors without proper approval.”

He stated that the department should sort out “issues of technicalities” being faced by the engineers, contractors and the local people and deliver the best as a team.

Namsai MLA and adviser to the RWD minister, Zingnu Namchoom, termed the meeting “not just a review meeting but a commitment to deliver for all the stakeholders, including the contractors and working engineers.”

He urged the contractors concerned to complete the projects on their hands early “with quality and time.”

Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor expressed hope that the “PMGSY-IV would come out with necessary modification, taking into account the area-specific unique geographic and demographic conditions of the state’s villages, and pave the way for adoption of more villages under the road connectivity network.”

He also pointed out the extensive damages caused to the Bali-Durpai PMGSY road last year due to sudden cloudbursts, saying that it is still crying for attention.

He said that PMGSY-III has no serious issues, and is set for completion by this fiscal.

Other speakers included RWD Secretary PN Thungon, CM’s technical adviser KC Dhimole, PMGSY CE Nyai Rigia, Pasighat RW Circle SE Marnya Chiram, and Bam RWD SE Moto Gara.(DIPRO)
