LONGDING, Apr 21: Longding SP BR Reddy on Monday appealed to the chiefs and gaon burahs of the villages situated along the interstate boundaries to seal the boundaries and not allow entry of outsiders.
The SP was addressing a coordination meeting with all the chiefs, GBs and interim panchayat leaders here to discuss the district’s preparedness against Covid-19.
Seeking their cooperation in the fight against the pandemic, the SP said, “We cannot be
around all the time, so villagers have to cooperate in sealing the boundaries with the neighboring state, except in Kanubari. However, government staffs like police personnel on duty and medical teams should not be disturbed, as they have come to serve you.”
He urged the participants not to believe in rumours but to consult the administration or the health experts if there are doubts or news about Covid-19 cases.
He informed that in the event of shortage of ration and other basic amenities, the villagers may inform the SP or the DA over the phone.
Responding to a query, Reddy said people coming to the district from within the state will be advised home quarantine, while those coming from other northeastern states will be kept at the quarantine facilities, and those coming from Covid-19 hotspots will be put under institutional quarantine.
“Here we will need your cooperation. You should not let children or people enter straight into your village without permission,” the SP said.
He also briefed them on the exemptions announced by the government during the lockdown period, such as construction of roads, buildings, etc, “where the number of workers should not exceed five.”
Later, the SP distributed facemasks to the villagers on behalf of the deputy commissioner. (DIPRO)
