Workshop on Measles-Rubella immunization campaign held

BOMDILA/ PASIGHAT, Nov 28: Daylong district-level training on Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) was organized by the District Health Society of Bomdila at the general hospital on Tuesday to facilitate and strengthen the planning units on preparation of proper micro plan for the forthcoming MRVC campaign in the first week of February 2018.
An injection of the vaccine would be administered to children of the age group between nine months to 15 years of the district in the month long campaign.
Dr G S Baria from the World Health Organization and Consultant UNICEF Dr Pravin Kumar attended the training as resource persons.
At Pasighat, a workshop cum training for trainers for Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign was organized by the District Health Society at the DC’s conference hall on Monday.
Chairing the meeting, East Siang Deputy Commissioner, Tamiyo Tatak called for consorted efforts to achieve cent percent immunization coverage of the targeted groups in the district.
Principals and the teachers of government and private schools would be trained and oriented for effective coverage of the immunization programme, Tatak said and asked the Education and Women & Child Development departments to extend all possible help for successful mission.
The DC further directed the DDSE and the ICDS authority to ensure compulsory participation from the principals, headmasters, CDPOs in the training and orientation programmes for the MR campaign.
Earlier DMO Dr Mandip Perme informed that the central government has aimed for total eradication of the disease by 2020 and further assured the DC that the district would launch an aggressive third phase Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign as part of the National Immunization Programme to save children from severe disabilities.
Seema Singh Koshal from Rapid Response Team, spoke on roles and responsibilities of the departments in the campaign.
DRCHO Dr T Gao gave a presentation on achievements of the second phase of National Immunization Programme and strategies for the campaign.
Group discussion among the doctors and government officers on proper implementation of MR campaign and routine immunization was also held. (DIPROs)
