Aalo, Nov 30: The Second Edition of Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy for Football and Volleyball was formally launched by Parliamentary Secretary for Sports and youth Affairs, Nyamar Karbak at Aalo general Ground today.
Addressing the gathering, Karbak said that the tournament is named after late Hangpan Dada, the illustrious army man from the state who laid down his life fighting against the insurgents.
In a friendly football match played to mark the occasion, HPS-XI beat DC-XI 3-1 to lift the winner’s trophy. One minute silence was also observed before the play as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Dani Salu, Director Sports Tadar Appa, West Siang Deputy Commissioner Swetika Sachan, Joint Director Youth Affairs Ramesh Lingi, Mission Director Khelo India Gumnya Karbak and Deputy Director Sports Mala Linggi were present on the occasion. (DIPRO)
