ITANAGAR, May 17: The Himalayan University’s (HU) department of agriculture conducted a webinar on ‘Increasing crop yield using modern techniques in agriculture’ on Sunday.
Inaugurating the webinar, Vice Chancellor Dr HS Sharma said the scientist, faculty members and students of agriculture science should come together to help the farmers of Arunachal Pradesh so that Arunachal becomes self-reliant.
In his key note address, Scientist from the ICAR-IARI, Pusa in New Delhi, Dr Subhash Babu stressed on the need for organic farming and location specific integrated farming systems to improve livelihood security and farmers’ income.
During his presentation, he stated that sustainable cropping system intensification; use of resource conservation techniques and adoption of integrated farming practices are the need of the hour to increase farmers’ income, besides sustain natural resource based in north eastern region of India.
Dr Raja Husain from the HU spoke about integrated farming management system and how farmers get fertile soil for increasing crop productivity.
The Zila Parishad Krishi Mahavidyalaya from Banda, UP, Dr Nitin Vikram spoke on biochemical fact for crop production. He informed that many biochemical facts are responsible for increasing crop production, such as C3, C4, protein biosynthesis, enzyme biosynthesis etc.
Soil Scientist KVK, Jhansi Dr Atik Ahamad spoke about soil health management to increase crop yield and how the soil plays role in plant growth and in regulating environmental quality. He also informed that over fertilizing crops can increase pest problems.
HU Registrar Dr Vivek Mittal also spoke.
