ROING, Jun 17: All the 47 swabsamples of the medical staffs of the DMO office collected on Tuesday have tested negative for the corona virus.
The samples had to be collected after one of the staff members had tested positive at Jorhat, Assam.
All the staff including the DMO had to be home quarantined after the staff tested positive.
The tests were conducted at Regional Medical Research Centre-ICMR, Dibrugarh on priority basis and all results have returned negative.
Meanwhile, yet another positive case has emerged from the GREF quarantine center here.
A 51 year old male returnee from Bulandshahar (UP) has tested positive for the virus. According to medical sources, he is asymptomatic at the moment and will remain at the facility as the GREF has their own medical arrangements.
The person had returned to Roing on 6 Juneand had tested negative on the first test conducted on 9 June. The DMO informed that since he has returned from a red zone area, a re-testing was done on the 15 June before releasing him from the facility, and the test returned positive.
A curfew is on in the Lower Dibang Valley district till the midnight of 18 June, as a precautionary measure to break the chain of infection after a staff of DMO’s office, Roing tested positive for Covid-19 at Jorhat, Assam, DIPRO reports.
‘The negative results have come as a relief but this is a wake-up call for all of us to be extra careful,’ stated deputy commissioner Mitali Namchoom. She added that the district administration and health department are taking all necessary precautions to contain the spread of the disease in the district and requested the public to follow all the health and hygiene protocols, wash hands with soap regularly, wear mask in public and maintain social distancing norms.
