ITANAGAR, Dec 21: The All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (AASSATA) has appealed to the state government to enhance the salary of SSA teachers at the earliest.
In a four-point memorandum to the chief minister, the association expressed hope that the government would fulfil the promise made by Education Parliamentary Secretary, Pani Taram, to enhance the SSA teachers’ salary and bring it at par with the salary of regular teachers, and to take a decision in this regard in the next cabinet meeting.
The association also said that APTET/CTET should not be made mandatory for teachers appointed prior to 2012, since the RTE Act was implemented in Arunachal Pradesh in 2012.
‘The judiciary of other states also declared making the Teacher Eligibility Test mandatory for the in-service teachers appointed prior to the implementation of the RTE Act in the respective states as illegal,’ it said.
Other demands of the association include batch-wise regularization of SSA teachers, and six-month maternity leave for women SSA teachers.
