WAKKA, Sep 21: Forty-four farmers and 18 anganwadi workers attended a training programme on cluster farming and nutritional kitchen gardening, organized here by the Longding KVK on Monday.
During the programme, KVK Head, Dr A Kirankumar Singh spoke about the importance of nutritional kitchen gardens in providing balanced nutrition to children. He suggested to the participants to prepare the nursery beds according to the size and quantity of the seeds which were given to them.
“Smaller the size of the seeds, finer the soil should be prepared for raising nursery for the nutritional kitchen garden,” he said.
BDO Singh distributed 13 different vegetable seeds to the participants. He spoke about nutrients and fertilizers, and plant protection measures in case of insect pests and diseases.
Singh emphasized on using locally available bio-pesticides, especially neem and neem products, for controlling insect pests and diseases.
Technical consultant Tanni Rangkham suggested that aromatic and other bio-pesticidal plants be used to control insect pests and diseases.
Wakka CO Gyamar Amte suggested following the systematic technical guidance offered by the KVK.
