RUKSIN, 20 Apr: Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering has expressed concern over the reported shortage of ambulances and management funds with the health department and demanded that the state government grant adequate funds for management of vehicles, fuel and other items for East Siang district’s frontline workers.
He was addressing a meeting with government, police and medical officers and community leaders convened by the Ruksin ADC here on Monday to discuss measures to prevent Covid-19 transmission.
The MLA also urged the people to stay alert and help the administration in controlling the situation.
ADC Tajing Jonnom later asked the medical authorities to shift the Covid testing centre for the convenience of the people.
“The new SOP allows testing centres to function from 9 am to 6 pm, so the local administration has set up a transit camp at Police Colony for the travellers/passengers who enter via the Ruksin check gate after 6 pm,” the ADC said.
Health department sources informed that East Siang district has traced 12 active Covid-19 cases, including two new entries on Monday. The two cases are returnees from Delhi who are currently under home isolation.
Meanwhile, the people of the district have asked the state government to suspend issuing of inner line permits for Ruksin until the situation is safe.
