TSD seeks lockdown in Ziro-Hapoli area

ZIRO, 15 May: The Tanw Supun Dukun (TSD) on Saturday urged the Lower Subansiri district administration to impose lockdown in the Ziro-Hapoli area to break the chain of ‘community transmission’ of Covid-19.

The TSD said it made the proposal in consultation with all other sister organizations, ZPMs, market committees, etc, in view of the rapid surge in Covid-19 cases, particularly in the Ziro-Hapoli area.

In its representation to the DC, the TSD said that the lockdown should be imposed for at least a week, if not 14 days, “to restrict the movement of vulnerable people by giving at least two to three days’ time in advance for necessary preparedness and convenience of the people.”

It also urged the DC to strictly monitor all the entry gates to the district and regulate the movement of goods and commuters from containment zones and other Covid-19 affected areas, apart from intensifying the contact tracing drive, testing and treating patients, and vaccinating the people in all the villages, sectors and other localities.
