DEOMALI, Jan 11: Twenty-five agricultural extension workers participated in an in-service training programme on ‘Recent advances on field crop cultivation with reference to climate change’ organised by the Tirap KVK on 11 January.
The KVK’s Agronomy SMS Dr Simanta Kumar Kalita discussed possible ways of mitigation the effects of climate change on agriculture, especially drought-like situation during the rabi season, in the district.
The agricultural extension workers also raised various problems of farmers regarding crop cultivation.
They also visited a few agricultural fields, where the farmers were advised on taking effective steps to increase production and productivity of crops.
Dr Kalita advised the agricultural extension workers to increase the cropping intensity in the district through the ‘rice-toria cropping system,’ and urged the participants to acquire full benefits from the Tirap KVK.
