Army donates health items to Tawang DH

TAWANG, 17 Jun: The Ball of Fire division of the Indian Army has donated a large number of health and hygiene materials to the Tawang district hospital (DH).

The health materials, including over 100 PPE kits and an equal number of testing kits, mattresses, blankets and bed sheets, were received by DMO Dr Wangdi Lama from the army officers here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, local MLA Tsering Tashi commended the sappers of the Ball of Fire division for extending their support for the welfare of the people of Tawang. He also expressed appreciation for the service rendered by the Dahung-based military hospital to the Covid-19 patients referred from Tawang.

“The bonhomie between the Indian Army and the civilians of Tawang district is an example for others. We also feel it is our moral responsibility to keep supporting and encouraging our soldiers. We should continue to strengthen our bond,” said the MLA.

DC Sang Phuntsok also conveyed his gratitude to the Indian Army for extending help in many ways during the pandemic.

Tawang District Sports Association (TDSA) chairman Namgey Tsering informed that the sappers of the Ball of Fire division, in collaboration with his NGO, have been carrying out welfare activities for the Mahabodhi old-age home in Teli, the Khinmey monastery, and for some poor students staying with the monks in Lemberdung area.

The distribution programme was conducted in collaboration with the TDSA. (DIPRO)
