ITANAGAR, 18 Jun: Various reforms have been made to check and streamline the system of land allotment in the Itanagar capital region (ICR), informed Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom while briefing media persons here on Friday on issues related to land allotment in the ICR.
He informed that allotment cases that were temporarily suspended will now be considered, “depending on the genuineness of cases.”
He informed that separate committees for Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas have been formed “for verification/survey of land allotments from private individuals in the ICR.”
The DC said that the committees would carry out verification/survey and scrutinize applications, “and only genuine cases shall be recommended to obtain government approval.”
He informed that a total of 4,601 applications are pending in the office till date, out of which 2,535 applications are for Itanagar area and 2,066 are for Naharlagun area.
Potom informed that, as per the official record, a total of 7,262 individuals and a total of 80 departments/organizations have been allotted land.
He also informed that a total of 1,027 encroachment cases have been listed.
“Protection of government land should be our priority, and the pending encroachment cases shall be regularized by the decision of the government,” he said.
The DC further informed that fresh allotment would be geotagged from now onwards to avoid overlapping and encroachment. (DIPRO)
