LIKABALI/GENSI, 12 Jul: A weeklong skill development training programme sponsored by the PHE&WS department, in collaboration with the skill development & entrepreneurship department, under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) was launched simultaneously in Likabali and Gensi in Lower Siang district on Monday.
In Likabali, EAC Ejum Angu highlighted the importance of training, and lauded “the performance of PHE department during such a critical monsoon period.”
In Gensi, ZPC Marpe Nguba and Jumkar Karbi advised the trainees to make the most of the training programme.
Executive Engineer Likha Tekhi said that the training programme is “basically for two trades: fitter and mason.”
He informed that the government has already framed guidelines for handing over of intra-village assets created under the JJM programme to the village water and sanitation committees for operation and maintenance.
“This is possible only if there are skilled persons in the villages,” he said. He also appealed for “giving preference to the trainees in awarding of contract works in the area.”
