ITANAGAR, 15 Jul: The All Arunachal Contractor’s Welfare Association (AACWA) has demanded “segregation of tender packages into small amounts for larger participation of local contractors and early target achievement.”
In a letter to the executive director of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd’s camp here, the AACWA informed that “inviting tender in high-value amounts of tender packages system victimizes many local contractors of Arunachal Pradesh as works are executed by local contractors on sub-contractors basis from winner companies.”
“Locals should not be sidelined by any government or any company in the name of development. Tender should be segregated into small packages like Rs 5, Rs 10 and Rs 15 crores amount values, so that local contractors can easily participate and make speedy progress of your targeted projects in the state,” the AACWA said.
The association also claimed that “most of the tender of outsiders are quoted up to 25-30 percent without knowing the geographical and topographical factors of Arunachal Pradesh, and later they try to fool local contractors by sub-letting them the project and taking some percentage from the local contractors. Such practices may affect the progress of works.”
Requesting the executive director to urge the higher authorities to cooperate in segregation of tender packages, the AACWA said that it “may move towards another direction to fight for the interests of the local contractors” if the demand is not met.
