Forty-four pressure swing absorption (PSA) oxygen plants are being installed in Arunachal Pradesh, covering all the districts. Some of them, installed under the PM Cares fund, were inaugurated on Thursday. In the last one-and-a-half year, the medical infrastructures have been upgraded across the state. The government of Arunachal has done a decent job of improving the health infrastructure. However, the job is still half done. The main issue is the maintenance of these health infrastructures. It is one thing to create infrastructures, but the biggest hurdle is maintaining them.
Enough care should be given to ensure that these infrastructures are properly maintained for the future. Often the government creates impressive infrastructures but bitterly fails to maintain them. This should not be allowed to happen with the health infrastructures created in the last one-and-a-half year. The Covid-19 pandemic in a way has been a kind of blessing in disguise for the people of the state. The pandemic forced the state government to give topmost priority to the health sector. The result is there for everyone to see. Now the government should concentrate on hiring quality doctors, technicians, nurses, etc, to ensure that these assets are properly used and do not go to waste in the future.
