Police solve series of robbery cases

ITANAGAR, 12 Feb: The capital police on Saturday solved nine registered robbery cases and seized four motorcycles, one scooter and five domestic LPG cylinders.

Seven suspects were arrested from different parts of Itanagar for their alleged involvement in the crimes.

The capital police started their investigation after they received a written FIR on 9 February from a resident of C Sector, Itanagar. “As per the FIR, the complainant was on his way home on 8 February, at around 12:10 hours when some boys on a bike stopped him and asked for money. When he refused, they beat him up badly, then one of the boy’s snatched Rs 10,000 from the complainant’s pocket,” the police informed in a release.

A case (No 50/2022 u/s 392/34 IPC) was registered and endorsed to SI Sanjeet Jha for further investigation.

Capital SP Jimmy Chiram formed a special team, comprising Inspector Simi, SI Jha, SI SK Singh, HC M Kamgo and Constables Siplu, Ligu, Mili, Robi, Tago, Pali and Pai, led by Itanagar SDPO Kamdam Sikom. The team swung into action and apprehended two suspected habitual criminals and intensely interrogated them. Both revealed that they knew some young boys who were involved in similar crimes.

Two days later, the special team apprehended a total of 17 suspected habitual snatchers from different locations of Itanagar.

Following thorough interrogation, the police found that seven of the apprehended persons were involved in a series of robbery cases registered at the Itanagar police station.

Of the seven, two were found to be juveniles and were released by the court, and the rest have been arrested.

Those arrested are Ngurang Tako (20), a resident of Nyokum Lapang Itanagar; Dado Agung (21), resident of Power House near Raj Bhawan; Dindo Naru (21), resident of Romi Colony, P Sector; Tassar Guma (19), resident of A Sector near Raj Bhawan; and Risso Nyidam (21), resident of DN College area.

The SP appealed to the denizens of the ICR to remain alert in order to contain such crimes, and to call 112 (ERSS) emergency number for immediate assistance from the police.
