AALO, 28 Mar: West Siang DC Penga Tato has requested the departments of textile & handicrafts and skill development to “encourage the village artisans for sustainable income generation.”

Themed ‘Vocal for local is for self-sustainable,’ the expo is being sponsored by the union textile ministry’s handloom development commissioner and organised by the Arunachal Handloom and Handicrafts Society.
The DC also stressed the need for establishing a collection centre for local products of the district and nearby districts “for exports to other regions.” He advised the local weavers and artisans to “open a shop, for which the district administration will give licenses in urban and village areas.”
