AALO, 1 Apr: Aalo East MLA Kento Jini inaugurated the Mopin festival celebration here in West Siang district on 31 March.
The Central Mopin Celebration Committee (CMCC) 2022, Aalo, started the celebration with volleyball and cultural competitions among various sectors of Aalo town and nearby villages.
West Siang DC Penga Tato, who is the chief patron of the CMCC, appealed to the people of West Siang to “have a good hospitality during the festival period,” adding that “the outsider visitors are to be given due respect.”
He also appealed to the people to preserve the age-old culture of the Galos.
The MLA released an audio album titled ‘Guii Tamwwâ’, featuring lyrics by Mijum Lona and songs sung by Hibi Ete Angu and Pagjum Kato Angu.
Jini appealed to the people of West Siang to be “very disciplined and celebrate the sacred festival with great pomp and joy.”
He said also that “the overall development of Aalo township, which was not done by many years back, is now on the wheel of development.” The MLA requested the people of nearby villages to donate land for solid waste management, as Aalo town is facing shortage of land for the purpose.
CMCC president Babom Romin, chairman Moki Loyi, general secretary Komba Taso and women’s wing president Yayum Gangkak requested the people of West Siang to celebrate Mopin this year in Aalo. (DIPRO)
