DAPORIJO, 11 May: An orientation programme for the teachers selected to teach Tagin as third language in schools was organized by Tagin Cultural Society (TCS) at GHSS here in Upper Subansiri district on Wednesday.
Sixty-four teachers from various schools in Upper Subansiri have been selected to undergo training on Tagin language at SCERT, Itanagar from 16 to 21 May, said TCS human resource development secretary Dosh Dasi.
The state government has approved the introduction of Tagin as third language in the schools of Upper Subansiri district from the current academic session.
Upper Subansiri deputy commissioner Mika Nyori briefed the teachers about the upcoming training and advised them to attend it sincerely.
He also spoke about the importance of learning and promoting local languages.
TCS president Larji Rigia said that introduction of Tagin language in the schools will go a long way in preserving the culture of the community and keeping the language alive.
He said that the language will be introduced in all the functional schools in the district from this year.
Rigia also said that the Tagin language books will be launched and distributed soon.
DDSE Tape Jeram also urged the teachers to attend the training sincerely.
