PASIGHAT, 12 May: Legendary singer Talut Mize, who breathed his last on Wednesday, was laid to rest at his Mirku-Daapi private residence here in East Siang district on Thursday.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein expressed grief over Mize’s demise and offered condolence to the bereaved family.
Born on 12 November, 1957, Talut, son of late Tatan Mize and Oyam Mize, of Ledum village near Pasighat, did his early schooling up to Class 3 at the LP school in Pasighat.
Thereafter he went to Bombay (Matunga), where he completed his high school, and later completed his graduation from JN College, Pasighat.
Mize was one of the prominent singers of Arunachal, and also had extensive credits in Adi, Galo and Mishing songs. He was conferred with the state award in the field of music twice by the governors of Arunachal, besides many other honours extended by local community-based organisations.
Mize was known for his melodious voice, besides for reviving and popularising local songs, and for his contributions in the field of music. He was recognised as a ‘legendary artist of Arunachal Pradesh’ by the Arunachal Guild for Cultural Integration.
MLAs Kaling Moyong, Ninong Ering and Lombo Tayeng, DC Tayi Taggu and ABK (Apex) general secretary Okom Yosung mourned Mize’s demise and paid their last respects.
Meanwhile, the Arunachal Artistes Forum (AAF) also mourned the demise of the legendary singer and composer.
In a condolence message, AAF chairman Takam Dado Tallom said, “We lost our icon Talut Mize. He was a true son of our state. His death has created a vacuum which will be difficult to fill.”
“The artist fraternity will always remember him for his contributions in the society through his voice and songs,” the AAF chairman said.
Earlier, union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao mourned the demise of Mize and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul. (With DIPRO input)
