AALO, Sep 16: Around 200 school children were sensitized on harmful effects of tobacco by a team of officials from the District Tobacco Control Cell, (DTCC) of West Siang during its first phase of anti-tobacco awareness programme at Government Nehru Memorial Higher Secondary School, Aalo.
The awareness programme was conducted under the supervision of DMO, Dr Nyage Geyi and District Programme officer, Dr Jombom Kato.
During the programme, DTCC Consultant Yomnya Badak briefed the participants on Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, (COTPA) to be enacted in the district to control tobacco consumption.
Obang Mize, Social Work Mobiliser gave a PowerPoint presentation on growing tobacco addiction among youth.
The programme concluded with an anti-tobacco pledge by all the participants. (DIPRO)
