ITANAGAR, 29 Jun: The directorate of economics & statistics on Wednesday celebrated the 16th National Statistics Day, commemorating the 129th birth anniversary of Prof. PC Mahalanobis, to create awareness on the importance and uses of statistics.
Economics and statistics director B. Megu highlighted the importance of statistics for economic development.
To mark the occasion, an essay competition among the undergraduate students was also organized.
Bagisha Kumari of Binni Yanga Women’s Government College won the first position, while Rotom Ter and Linya Bagra, both from Dera Natung Government College won the second and third positions respectively.
The first, second and third prize winners were awarded Rs. 15000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5000 respectively with certificates.
