AALO, 8 Sep: The general hospital here in West Siang district observed the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies, with the theme ‘The Air We Share’, on Thursday.
A ‘cycle adventure-cum-mass awareness programme on air pollution’ was organised by the district unit of the National Programme on Climate Change for Human Health (NPCCHH), in collaboration with the West Siang Cycling Association (WSCA). It was flagged off by DMO Dr Dubom Bagra.
The cycling team consisted of members from of the WSCA and the general hospital, led by NPCCHH district nodal officer Dr Jumbom Kato and the WSCA president.
The team cycled around the town and spread awareness regarding the impact of air pollution and plastic waste on human health. It also encouraged the residents to use bicycles instead of cars, motorcycles, etc.
Plantlets provided by the forest & wildlife department were planted near the hospital’s OPD building as part of the programme. (DIPRO)
