ZIRO, 17 Nov: The students and faculty members of the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) here in Lower Subansiri district participated in an awareness programme on ‘Deforestation and climate change’, along with a plantation drive, organised by the GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment’s Northeast regional centre (GBPNIHE-NERC) at the school on 16 November.
During the programme, GBPNIHE-NERC scientist Tridipa Biswas presented a brief on the various activities undertaken by the institute, and described the common causes and effects of deforestation.
Ziro DFO Millo Tasser spoke on “the role of children in preventing deforestation and protection of wildlife.”
