ITANAGAR, 19 Jul: Yuva Tourism Clubs, an initiative of the ministry of tourism, GoI as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations was launched jointly by the department of tourism and North East regional office Guwahati at the State Food Crafts Institute here on Tuesday last.
The objective of the Yuva Clubs is to educate the youth and students about the country’s heritage, culture and resources and create an atmosphere to promote responsible and sustainable tourism in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, tourism director Kesang Ngurup Damo emphasized about the abundant cultural resources available in the state and the need for preserving these resources for the future generations.
He also mentioned the benefits of taking up travel as a profession and how the students could become independent entrepreneurs in the future.
He further urged everyone to adopt a planet friendly and responsible lifestyle and create awareness for a clean and green Arunachal.
Highlighting travel prospects in the state, secretary tourism Swapnil Naik stressed on the need for holding continuous skill development and upgradation programme for the tourism stakeholders and professionals.
The secretary tourism also emphasized on the use of technology in the travel industry and how its use can increase productivity and create professionals resulting in creating a suitable and tourist friendly atmosphere.
Tourism deputy director Bengia Manna Sonam informed that the department has till now formed over 135 Yuva Clubs with a total of about 5000 club members approx.
Tour operators, Homestay operators, technicians, students and Yuva Tourism Club members from various schools across the state attended the programme.
