NAMSAI, 2 Aug: Namsai police busted a major drugs racket by apprehending two persons with possession of 499.15 grams of suspected heroin valued around Rs. 17, 15,000 on 30 July.
Acting on tip off, a joint team of police and CRPF led by Namsai SDPO Chera Saban conducted a raid in the house of suspects Bhaskar Gogoi (32) and Putulon Gogoi (28) of Bogamur Pahargaon village under Namsai police station and recovered the suspected drugs from their house. The seized drugs were packed in 49 soap cases. The police also seized sales proceed of Rs. 30,500 from them.
The raid was conducted under the close supervision of SP Sange Thinley.
The police have arrested both Bhaskar Gogoi and Putulon Gogoi and registered
a case against them under section 21(C) of the NDPS Act at Namsai police station.
“The arrested persons are notorious drugs peddlers of the district and have been engaged in huge inter-state smuggling of drugs in recent past,” the SP said.
