NIRJULI, 17 Nov: The electrical engineering department of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST) and the Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency jointly organised a session on ‘Retailers training programme under standards & labelling programme’ of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), here on Friday.
Around 60 engineering students, research scholars and faculty members attended the BEE-sponsored programme, which was aimed at helping consumers make informed decisions about various energy consuming electrical appliances, in terms of energy savings.
Addressing the inaugural programme, NERIST Director Prof Narendranath S advised the participants to “grab the opportunities to contribute in the effort of saving energy for the benefit of the society.”
APEDA Deputy Director Asi Linggi highlighted the importance of creating awareness on energy efficient appliances “that can greatly contribute in energy savings towards fulfilling the mission of zero carbon emission by 2070.”
Rana Pratap Poddar, an expert on energy efficient design from Kolkata (WB)-based INVENCO, shared his knowledge about energy saving.
Among others, NERIST Electrical Engineering HoD Prof AK Singh and Academic Dean Prof Sarsing Gao were also present.
