NAMSAI, Sep 4: An elaborate programme has been chalked out in connection with celebration of World Tourism Day in Namsai on September 27.
Namsai has been chosen as the venue for celebrating the WTD this year in order to promote tourism potentials of eastern Arunachal.
“The eastern part of Arunachal too has great tourism potentials, but unfortunately, it is not being tapped to its potential”, said Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein during a meeting convened in connection with the WTD celebration on Monday.
He stressed the need for promoting the tourism potentials of the eastern parts of the state along with rest of Arunachal Pradesh.
Mein called for involving all stakeholders, including taxi drivers, hotel owners and managers and creating awareness on hospitality and cleanliness.
Photography and cycling competition from Golden Pagoda to Namsai, culinary competition on traditional food, panel discussions on cultural heritage and preservation, wildlife conservation, challenges in promoting tourism in Arunachal, workshop on rural tourism, wildlife tourism, home-stay, etc will be organized during the celebration, informed Deputy Commissioner, RK Sharma.
He assured the district administration’s full support for smooth celebration of WTD.
Parliamentary Secretary (Planning & Investment) Chow Zingnu Namchoom, Superintendent of Police C K Mein, ADC Bijoy Talukdar, Deputy Director (Tourism) Gedo Esi, HoDs and representative of APTOA Eastern Arunachal Unit were present in the meeting.
