The encroachment malaise has reached Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU). As per the reports the university land is being encroached upon. Sadly some of the encroachers are reportedly employees of the university. It’s a tragedy that land sharks are now targeting the lone central university of state. Encroachment of government land is a big menace. Capital complex and districts headquarters are battling this problem. Infact day by day the government land is vanishing and authorities are hopelessly watching without taking any action. If the trend continues in future govt will be left with no land of its own. This will adversely affect the development plan of the government.
But what saddens most is the encroachment of land belonging to educational institutions. Several govt schools, degree colleges and polytechnic institutes are facing encroachment problem. Even medi-city project at Pachin colony, Naharlagun which is part of medical college project has not been started up due to the encroachment issue. And now RGU is also being targeted by the greedy land grabbers. State government should take strong action against those people who indulge in illegal encroachment activities. By not initiating any action against them, the authorities are only encouraging other potential encroachers. Also the people of state should themselves introspect and put an end to illegal grabbing of educational institute’s land.
