ITANAGAR, Mar 25: A seminar on diabetes update for doctors and medical staffs of the Northeastern region was organized by the North Eastern Diabetes Society (NEDS) at Heema Hospital here on Saturday.
Heema Hospital CMD Dr Byabang Rana in his address urged the doctors, particularly diabetes specialists, to work dedicatedly for the good health of the common people.
Highlighting the role and functions of the NEDS, its secretary Dr DM Bhuyan said that diabetes has become a challenge for the medical fraternity.
Expressing concern over the increasing number of diabetes patients in India and across the globe, he appealed to the medical fraternity to create awareness on preventive measures against diabetes.
“Diabetes is spreading is like anything which needs to be contained,” NEDS treasurer Dr PK Biswas said, and emphasized on preventive measures.
Dr A Sharma spoke on the causes of the disease. He advised people to avoid junk foods and keep their body fit and healthy through regular physical exercises. He also advised the people not to neglect the disease and get medication if necessary.
Pre-diabetes, hypertension and its relation to diabetes, types of diabetes and preventive measures were discussed elaborately during technical session.
Meanwhile, a large number of people from the capital complex benefited from a free diabetes screening conducted at Heema Hospital.
