ITANAGAR, Mar 25: All Arunachal Pradesh Panchayat Parishad (AAPPP) secretary general Sangha Tagik has termed the 2018-19 state budget ‘anti-people’.
Citing Land Management Secretary SK Jain’s circular on revised land rates, issued on 12 March, 2018, Tagik stated in a press release that ‘the state government is looting the masses.’
‘The lands have been categorized as A, B, C, D and E. Their rates have skyrocketed from Rs 5 and Rs 10 per sq metre (in the state capital) to Rs 600 and Rs 1000 for residential and commercial respectively, as decided by the cabinet on 30 January, 2018,’ he said.
He claimed that ‘the rates of commercial, residential and institutional lands without any source of revenue, including religious, have been notified without specifying the measurement of space, like square feet, square metre or hectare, while the previous rates in the earlier order was for square metre.’
Tagik questioned how the circular could be given to the deputy commissioners for implementation within seven days without first setting proper regulations.
