PASIGHAT, 4 Mar: The East Siang district education department conducted a ‘Community leaders’ training programme’ for the GPMs and the GPCs of Bogong-I and -II and Bosing-I and -II in Pasighat block, under the ISSE flagship programme for media and community mobilisation, at the Shikshak Sadan here last Saturday, in order to create an environment conducive to learning in schools by involving civil society.
Resource person and teacher Oming Jamoh Pertin highlighted the provisions of the RTE Act, 2009, while advocate Tom Modi spoke on the provisions of the POCSO Act, 2012 (amended in 2019) for prevention of sexual abuse, sexual harassment, etc.
DIET Principal Tapang Taki delivered a presentation on “the roles and responsibilities of GPMs and GPCs in supporting school education system and achieving the goals of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, which is now known as ISSE.”
DDSE Odhuk Tabing, JN College Assistant Professor Dr Danggen Daming, and PMC Councillor Oyin Gao said that the GPMs and the GPCs have to play crucial roles in schools’ developmental activities.
