Itanagar, 16 Aug: A drug peddler was arrested from here after suspected heroin worth Rs 51,000 was seized from his possession, the police said on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team apprehended the person from the Gandhi Market area in the city on Thursday and recovered the narcotics substance from his residence, Itanagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohit Rajbir Singh said.
The narcotic substance had been kept in 51 plastic packets.
During interrogation, the accused admitted that he had procured the suspected heroin from Assam and had planned to sell it in Itanagar, the police officer said.
A case under the relevant section of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, has been registered against the accused, the SP added.(PTI)
