OYAN, 4 Mar: A community hall (gumin soyin dere) was inaugurated in Oyan, by IPR Minister Nyato Dukam on Tuesday, in the presence of Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering and others.
The North Eastern Council granted a fund of Rs 1 crore for the construction of the community hall, which was executed by the RWD’s Pasighat division.
Addressing the villagers, Dukam said that the state government “is taking the state to new heights of development by construction of airports, highways and railways.” He asked the people to “use the elected leaders for their welfare services.”
He expressed concern over drug abuse, and urged the people to help the government in combating the menace. He also urged the people to be self-reliant, rather than depending on government aid.
Attending the event, state BJP president Kaling Moyong said that “the ministerial team of the state, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, is working actively for the welfare of the people,” and asked the elected leaders to “follow the spirit of teamwork for development.”
MLA Ering urged the senior villagers to take a proactive role in implementing development schemes in their area.
East Siang DC Tayi Taggu also spoke.
Earlier, in their inaugural addresses, Oyan ZPM Bimol Lego termed the event a special day for the village community, while senior villager Boken Pao recalled the evolution of the village and the role of their ancestors.
Among others, Ruksin ADC Kiran Ningo, Sille-Oyan CO Dubam Apang, Pasighat Municipal Council Chief Okiam Moyong Borang, ZPMs of the area, and gaon burahs, led by HGB Jatin Bori, were present on the occasion.
