LIKABALI, 21 Mar: A two-day ‘Spearhead Seminar-2025′, organised by the Indian Army, began at the Likabali military station in Lower Siang district on Friday to discuss Arunachal Pradesh’ strategic importance, development trajectory and security challenges.
The seminar, themed ‘Resurgent Arunachal: Integrated approach to security and development’, witnessed participation of students from various colleges of Assam, Rajiv Gandhi University, and Jawaharlal Nehru College, besides NCC cadets, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, and civil administration officials of Arunachal.
During the first session of the seminar, discussion was held on the topic ‘Arunachal through the prism of history’, with panellists Prof Dr Shashibala, Claude Arpi and Prof Ashan Riddi.
The session explored the state’s historical, cultural, and geopolitical relevance, emphasising its indigenous heritage and its role in India’s frontier policies.
The second session of the seminar, on the topic ‘Arunachal transformation -Trajectory of development’, focused on infrastructure, economic development, security measures, and the role of civil-military collaboration in shaping Arunachal’s future.
Retired lieutenant general Dushyant Singh, NEC Director Tanung Jamoh, state Tourism Director Manjunath R and retired brigadier Bhattacharya were the panellists. The discussions will continue on the second day (22 March), further exploring strategies for Arunachal’s growth and security.
The seminar also included a question and answer session between experts and participants on key issues related to the state’s development.
APU joins seminar
A delegation of 28 students of Pasighat (East Siang)-based Arunachal Pradesh University (APU), led by Assistant Professor Dr Tagam Dabi, participated in the first day of the seminar.
The seminar featured eight technical sessions, covering topics such as regional history, tribal evolution, cultural heritage, tourism potential, national security, and economic opportunities. Students engaged in meaningful discussions, gaining deeper insights into the strategic importance and future prospects of the state.
“The seminar at Spearhead division, Likabali, was an immensely valuable educational experience for our students. It not only enhanced their academic understanding but also encouraged critical thinking and awareness of socio-political dynamics in Arunachal Pradesh. The participation in such an event has undoubtedly contributed to their overall growth and preparedness for future challenges in regional and national development,” remarked Dr Dabi.
