Pasighat, 18 Sep: In an effort to promote cleanliness and personal hygiene, students from the social work department of the Arunachal Pradesh University (APU) performed a series of skits in Runne and Mongku villages in East Siang district on 16 September.
The skits, titled ‘Kampo Molaju Ngoluke Among em’, which translates to ‘Let’s Make Our Home Clean’, were a key part of the university’s outreach initiative. The performances highlighted the importance of community effort in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. Coordinated by Assistant Professor (Guest) Kento Mitkong, the initiative saw 17 masters of social work students from both the first and third semesters participate.
Performed in the local Adi language, the skits resonated with a diverse audience, including children, women, and the elderly. The narrative focused on the consequences of poor waste disposal and the lack of community awareness. The students used the performances to spark thoughtful discussions on teamwork and the importance of individual responsibility in keeping public spaces clean and hygienic.
Following their village outreach, the social work department of the APU also took part in the inauguration of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign at Gandhi Chowk here on 17 September, raising slogans about the Smart Waste Challenge 1.0, an initiative of NGO Green Squad Team.
