ITANAGAR, 21 Feb: Hosts Arunachal Pradesh registered resounding wins in both women’s and men’s categories of the group-stage football matches of the 1st Khelo India Tribal Games, 2026, on Friday.
In the women’s category, Arunachal grounded Tripura 16-1 in a lopsided match at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun.
In the men’s category, Arunachal secured a 4-2 victory over Assam at the Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium, Yupia.
In the second round of matches, Nagaland defeated Sikkim 4-0 in the men’s category, while Meghalaya registered a 16-0 victory over Manipur in the women’s category.
Four matches – two each in men’s and women’s categories – will be played on 22 February.
In the men’s category, Assam will take on Nagaland in the first match of the day, while Arunachal will be up against Sikkim in the second match.
In the women’s category, the first match will be played between Manipur and Tripura, and the second match will be held between Meghalaya and Arunachal.
