LEKHI, 17 Mar: The Arunodaya University (AU) here on Tuesday organised a workshop aimed at promoting interdisciplinary learning and collaborative approaches to address contemporary global challenges such as climate change, sustainable development, and innovation-driven growth.

Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission (APPEIRC) chairman Tsering Naksang highlighted the sustainable development gaps in Arunachal Pradesh and emphasised the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to address these challenges.

APPEIRC secretary Dr AK Tripathy stressed the importance of conducting such workshops to promote knowledge sharing, innovation, and academic collaboration.

The workshop titled, ‘Bridging disciplines for innovation and sustainable solutions: A global perspective’, featured two technical sessions conducted by Prof Jayadeba Sahoo and Prof Tage Rupa Sora from Rajiv Gandhi University.

The first session focused on multidisciplinary approaches to global challenges, innovation for sustainable development, and education for sustainability.

Sahoo highlighted the growing challenges of climate change and emphasised the need for interdisciplinary collaboration. He stated that environmental scientists studying ecological patterns, sustainability experts framing sustainable policies, and political scientists shaping international agreements must work together to develop a holistic approach towards addressing climate change and achieving common global goals.

Prof Sora led the second session, highlighting sustainable development goals, environmental geography, biodiversity conservation, and regional sustainability in the Northeast. She highlighted the significance of the Sustainable Development Goals Report 2025 and emphasised the ecological importance of sustainable practices.

Prof Sora spoke also about the state of agriculture in Northeast India and highlighted various strategies for achieving sustainable development in the region.

Both sessions witnessed active participation, followed by engaging question-and-answer interactions that enriched the learning experience of the participants.
