PASIGHAT, Sep 26: East Siang, District Magistrate Tamiyo Tatak has issued an executive order, prohibiting any kind of gambling, including lottery, housie, dice, etc in public places within the jurisdiction of East Siang district during ensuing Durga Puja festival, or until further orders.
Issued under the Provisions of the Public Gambling Act,1867, the order also states that if anybody is found violating the order, they would be dealt with as per provision of law, including 188 IPC.
The prohibitory order has been taken to maintain law and order and also to avert negative social ramifications. (DIPRO)
