SEPPA, Oct 3: The Women Welfare Organisation (WWO), East Kameng celebrated the 72nd birth anniversary of first woman legislator of the state Nyari Welly, in a function here on Monday.
As part of the celebration, meritorious girls and women from the fields of academics, sports, and social work were felicitated.
In academics, Marchi Dolo was felicitated for clearing the NEET for MBBS, while Pimak Neri, Renuka Rapung, and Lungni Gyadi were felicitated for their brilliant performance in the class 12 examination.
In sports, karatekas Yame Gyadi and Mesam Singhi, who represented the state and the country in various events, were felicitated.
The 3rd Nyari Welly Ideal Woman award was given away to Kakap Cheda Dolo.
Kameng Presidium School and Kampu Hollenorphanage were also felicitated for their humanitarian services.
Earlier, WWO president Veena S Waii narrated the life and achievements of Nyari Welly, and exhorted the people, especially the womenfolk, to work together to complete the works left behind by Welly.
WWO general secretary Pooja Sonam Natungmade a PowerPoint presentation on the organisations’ activities.
Among others, East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organisation chairman Khya Safar Pao, WRD executive engineer Pai Dawe, and East Kameng deputy commissioner Rajeev Takuk attended the function.
