KHONSA, Aug 3: The Tirap district unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) organized rally here on Friday, attended by top bosses of the party.
State NPP president Gicho Kabak, along with party MLAs Tirong Aboh, Rajesh Tacho, Nikh Kamin and Mutchu Mithi attended the rally, which was followed by a bike procession of NPP workers.
District NPP president Noklam Bisai in his opening address claimed that the people of Tirap “are shifting their loyalty to the NPP.” The party is led by its national president and Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma.
Kabak in his address appealed to the people to support the party, and directed the party’s district office bearers to strengthen the party organisation for the forthcoming parliament and assembly elections.
Mithi dismissed reports describing the NPP as “the B team of BJP” and said the NPP has “its own ideology and agenda and will compete free and fair with any political party.”
State NPP vice-presidents Nima Sangey and Anok Wangsa also appealed to the public to join the NPP “and bring it to power for good governance, peace and prosperity in the state.”
Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh highlighted the party’s ideology and agenda, and appealed to the people to join the NPP “without any hesitation.”
