ITANAGAR, Aug 9: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has directed the authorities to take up the Chief Minister’s Arogya Arunachal Yojna (CMAAY) “on a mission mode” throughout the state.
Chairing the first governing body meeting of the newly created Chief Minister’s Arogya Arunachal Society (CMAAS), which was earlier called the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s Universal Health Insurance Society, here on Thursday morning, Pema asked the governing body members to “go on a war footing for enrollment of people, so that almost every family reaps the benefit of the benevolent scheme.”
He also urged the authorities concerned to finalize deals with reputed hospitals for empanelment.
Reviewing the status of the scheme and its preparedness, the CM stressed on setting up kiosks in the districts, so that people are made aware of the scheme and get themselves enrolled.
“As soon as it takes off, the practice of providing medical assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund will be completely stopped,” Pema said.
As per the guidelines, all APST citizens, government employees and those having resident certificates can avail the benefits after registration by producing relevant documents like APST certificate, Aadhaar card or resident certificate.
With the chief minister as the chairman of the governing body, the CMAAS would implement the ambitious CMAAY to facilitate cashless health care in empanelled hospitals on assurance mode.
The “soft launch” of the health assurance scheme was earlier done in a simple ceremony on 26 July. The scheme is scheduled to take off this 15 August, and to become fully functional in another two months.
Various issues and requirements for enabling the CMAAS to smoothly and successfully implement and run the scheme were discussed, and decisions like recruitment of manpower, appointment of CEO and DyCEO, etc, were also made.
“As we will be one of the first states to go ahead with the Ayushman Bharat scheme along with our own CMAAY, we will be keenly watched. We must not fail,” Pema asserted.
So far, the TRIHMS in Naharlagun and the general hospital in Pasighat are empanelled for the scheme,while the B Baruah Cancer Institute (Guwahati), the Narayana Hrudalay Group of Hospitals and many others are on the cards.
