KHOGLA, Aug 23: The Khonsa battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted an operation in Khogla village in Tirap district on 22 August and apprehended a hardcore NSCN (K) insurgent, identified as self-styled private Haejam Wangsa.
A pistol, live ammunition, extortion notes, opium, and other incriminating evidence were recovered from his possession.
During interrogation, Wangsa admitted allegiance to the NSCN (K), and divulged that he had been an active part of the outfit since 2014 and had undergone three months of weapons training in an NSCN (K) camp in a neighboring country. (PIB Defence Wing)
