ROING, Sep 2: Rajya Sabha Member Mukut Mithi inaugurated the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) branch here in a function at the anchal samiti hall on 1 September.
Mithi said the idea of the bank was first mooted in 2006 but could not be implemented. “It has now been revisited, evaluated and accepted as a bank with its nationwide launch,” he said.
He expressed hope that the IPPB would cater to the banking needs of the people of the rural areas where people do not have easy access to banking facilities.
Lower Dibang Valley DC Mitali Namchoom said that, since all payments, stipends and benefits are given through DBT in bank accounts, the IPPB would be helpful to the people in places where there are no banking facilities.
Assistant Superintendent of Posts NS Singh also spoke. (DIPRO)
