BOLUNG, Sep 16: An ‘orientation-cum-awareness programme on yoga, child rights, value education, meditation and drug de-addiction’ was organised at the government higher secondary school here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Saturday.
The multifaceted programme was an initiative of the school’s principal, Abu Saring, for the benefit of the students.
A string of experts attended the programme as resource persons. Yoga instructor from RIWATCH, Jayanta Borah, demonstrated yoga practices and taught basic yoga, while CWC chairperson Dr Manaya Mena spoke about child rights and motivated the students to help create mass awareness against child labour and child marriage.
BK Jitamani from Prajapati Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishvavidyalaya spoke on ‘satkarma’, or value education and meditation, and an official from the DDSE office, Boa Tama, spoke about drug de-addiction and said addiction could be overcome through Raj Yoga.
The programme was coordinated by history teacher BR Das.
